Shirley Janiece (Fletchall) Henry was born May 18, 1942 at home in rural Worth County, Missouri to I. Nelson Fletchall and Helen (Hughes) Hamblen.  She grew up in Grant City along with her brothers: Frank, Virgil and sister Lynda.  She attended Worth County RIII School District. 


In 1958 Shirley was united in marriage to George N. Henry.  To this union four boys were born Bradley N., Douglas M., Dennis D., and Richard N.   The family lived in Colorado and Iowa before moving to St. Joseph, Missouri where she currently resided.    


Shirley loved doing home improvement projects on her house and working on her yard.  One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her family and pets and many friends “out on the deck”.  Shirley loved arts and crafts, especially ceramics and crocheting.  Shirley was a huge Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching her team win. 


Shirley passed away July 1, 2026 in St. Joseph, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Bradley.  Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Doug (Dawn) Henry, Dennis (Kelly) Henry and Rick Henry.  Shirley will be greatly missed by her 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.   


Shirley was an exemplary mother figure and human being. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends.” She was always someone her children and many times, her children’s friends could go to for advice, love and comfort.   


Memorial service will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to service time.  Burial will be at the Honey Grove Cemetery north of Grant City, Missouri.  Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Animal Shelter.
