Samuel Baker Obituary

Samuel Wilie Baker was born November 8, 1961 in Allendale, MO to Loren and Edna (Roach) Baker. He departed this life July 1, 2022 after a long illness. Sam resided in Grant City MO with his youngest son Willie Baker.

Sam lived a short time in Mt Ayr IA. Where he married his first wife Cheryl Roach in 1980. To this union there was one son born, Billy Jo Baker.

In 1983 Sam received a job and moved to Rockland WI, where he met long time partner Wendy Betsinger. To that relationship there was 2 more children born, Heather Kay and Matthew Lee.

He also went on to be blessed with another son Brandon.

Sam worked for a lumber mill where he severely injured his back. After leaving there he met Pamela Anderson who he married and had another son, Wyatt. Sam was blessed and proud to be able to build a beautiful house with his own hands for his family.

When marriage ended Sam moved to Minneapolis MN to live with his sister Darlene. There he met Renea Crandell. She brought with her a son Bobby and daughter Breanna.  Shortly after entering into a relationship they moved to Redding Iowa where they lived with his mother Edna. They cared for her and her home while working on a local farm. With his pain he shortly retired making his mother’s place his home.  To this union they were blessed with the last of his children, a son Willie.

In 2016 tragedy hit him with the loss of his wife, daughter and injuries Willie sustained. Along with other family lives lost that day.  At this time he accepted Christ as his Savior.  In 2018 he married Jodi Lawrence.  As he continued to take care of everything related to the tragedy he was so overwhelmed and the disease had taken control of his life.  His journey ended July 1, 2022.

Preceding him in death are is parents Loren and Edna Baker. Grandparents Jesse and Lucy Roach, Bill, Gertrude and Lena Baker.  An infant brother. Partner Wendy Betsinger, wife Renea Baker and daughter Breanna.

To the family and many friends Sam will be remembered for his mother’s beautiful blue eyes and his crazy resemblance to his dad. Sam loved to socialize with friend and family, teasing the kids. He kept busy building, remodeling, and working on cars among other things.

Sam’s disease got in the way of his showing his love to some, but it was well known by his close friends and family he desired the love acceptance of his family.

He truly did love all his kids as he talked about all of them often. If he had the ability to go back and mend relationships he would have. It just wasn’t always achievable for him. If Sam had only 1 thing left to say to his children it would be: HE LOVED THEM!
