Lynn Ellen King was born October 19, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri to Carl and Hazel Vanarsdall. She lived in Winona and Eminence, Missouri until 1952. She then went to live in The Missouri Baptist Children‘s Home. In August of 1957 she went to live with Curt and Vera Seat in the Allendale, Missouri area.
In early 1958 Lynn met her husband to be Charles at the Grant City Skating Rink. They were engaged in November of 1958. Lynn and Charles were married on August 2, 1959. To this union three daughters were born; Charlene, Elaine and Kerra. They would welcome into their home and raise as a son Carl “Clancy” Brown.
Lynn was a member of the Blockton Baptist Church in Blockton, Iowa until it closed. She then attended the Blockton Christian Church until the time of her passing.
She was a member of the Red Hats and Pinochle Club, Koinonia Club. She enjoyed reading, painting, word search puzzles, scrabble, making banana bread and card games. In her younger years she loved to garden and made all kinds of breads, jams and different goodies she shared with friends and family. She had a love for all animals but horses were her favorite.
Preceding Lynn in death were her husband Charles in 2010; parents: Carl and Hazel, sister, Alva Siffler and husband Eddie, sister, Willetta Roach and husband Vern , foster parents, Curt and Vera Seat, foster sister Judy Caldwell and husband Ronnie , son-in-law Gerry Ballantyne; sister-in-law Jeanette Beekman and mother and father-in-law Arthur and Lavelle King.
She is survived by her three daughters: Charlene Ballantyne, Elaine King, Kerra Drake (Greg Wehrkamp), son, Clancy (Carmin) Brown, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Jack (Laura) Vanarsdall, sisters; Shannon (Chuck) Wagner; and foster brother David (Mary) Seat, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Blockton Christian Church in Blockton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Blockton Christian Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton, Iowa.
