Jan Marie Wright
Jan Marie Wright, 43, of Merriam, Kansas sadly left us on March 21, 2024. She left with many family members by her side.
Jan was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 26, 1980 and spent her younger years in Albany, Grant City, Saint Joseph and Stanberry Missouri. She had Type 1 Diabetes from age 4. When her eyesight began failing in her early twenties she moved to Lenexa, KS. to be with her stepmom Chris and began treatments to slow the progression of her eye disease. She attended the Kansas School of the Blind in Topeka. Over time, she was able to live an independent life, even obtaining a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Ottawa University. She fell in love and had her precious son, Alex.
She enjoyed family time and vacations. She loved animals and was a caring person. She loved her nieces and nephews more than anything. Although things did not always go as planned or hoped for, she stayed the course as only a strong woman could. She began a life with Jeff Plunkett 7 years ago and they were both very good for each other.
The old adage “only the good die young”. fits Jan perfectly.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents Patrick Lear and Linda Waugh and her beloved grandmother Gwen McGrew.
She is survived by her son Alex, her partner of 7 years, Jeff Plunkett, brothers Randy and Brian (Autumn) Lear, sisters Deanna Amend and Kendra (Stephen) Salter, stepfather Gene Waugh, stepmother Chris (Bob) Blickhan and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home. 200 S Front Street in Grant City, Missouri 64456 on Tuesday, March 26,2024. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 and Service at 11:00 followed by graveside service at Fletchall Cemetery.
